ARLINGTON, Va. - - A special Twilight Tattoo called 'Salute from the Chief' is scheduled to be performed on Whipple Field, Joint Base Myer - Henderson Hall April 28, at 6 p.m. The performance will recognize five American citizens for their outstanding service in support of the United States Army and award them with the Outstanding Civilian Service Award.
The award is the third-highest public service honor the U.S. Army can bestow upon a civilian. Remarks will be provided during the ceremony by General Ray Odierno, 38th Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army.
This special Twilight Tattoo is free and open to the public and is a production of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington (MDW). It is an hour-long, live-action military pageant featuring Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own." Audiences will experience a glimpse into American history through performances by The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, and The U.S. Army Drill Team.

MDW also produces Twilight Tattoos all summer long, every Wednesday evening, beginning April 30 to Aug. 20, except 4th of July week. These regularly scheduled Twilight Tattoos begin at 7 p.m. Pre-ceremony pageantry begins at 6:45 p.m. Performances from April 30 through June 25 will be located at Summerall Field on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, Va. Performances from July 9 through Aug. 20 will be located at Whipple Field on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, Va.
