FORT BENNING, Ga -- Family Advocacy presents ScreamFree Parenting from 6-7:30 p.m. April 15 at the Benning Club.
"(It deals) with keeping our cool as a parent and having a calmer household with more cooperation and respect," said Elizabeth Clawson, nurse specialist for the Family Advocacy New Parent Support Program.
It also teaches parents to handle stressful situations when dealing with children, she said.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Family Advocacy provides education and support in order to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Hal Runkel, author of ScreamFree Parenting and marriage and family therapist, will lead the seminar.
The seminar is open to active-duty Soldiers, Family members, retired military and Department of Defense civilians.
While registration is not required, the first 250 people to register will receive Runkel's book and DVD. Child care is available but limited so call by April 11. Family Advocacy will continue ScreamFree Parenting in May. There will be a sign-up sheet at the upcoming seminar for those interested.
To register, call 706-545-9857.
