FORT BRAGG, N.C. - The FORSCOM Eagle Award for excellence as a military police company was presented to 65th Military Police Company, 503rd MP Battalion, 16th MP Brigade, at Fort Bragg March 10.

Brig. Gen. William R. Coats, director of operations and readiness at Forces Command here, presented the Eagle Award to Capt. Julie Austin, commander of 65th MP Company.

The Eagle award surveys about a dozen categories measured competencies. The Eagle award recipient is presented to the military police company scoring the highest against other MP companies withing FORSCOM.

"Iron sharpens iron, so having the Eagle Award presented to the 65th MP Company has made them the best, and improved the companies to the left and right within the battalion and brigade as well," said Col. Alexander Conyers.

Becoming the best in any field is a team effort and requires the support of all of the organizations associated with it.

"It is an honor to present Capt. Austin of the 65th MP Company the Eagle Award on behalf of Gen. Allyn," said Coats. "The units within FORSCOM comprise about 55 percent of the Army, so the Eagle award is a very distinguishing award."

Austin has served as the commander for the 65th MP Company for the past 18 months with 1st Sgt. Gerard Charles. Austin accepted the Eagle award representing the hard work the soldiers have exhibited as a team during that time period. Austin is set to relinquish command to Capt. Robert C. Fales in a ceremony scheduled for March 14, 2014.
