NEW KABUL COMPOUND, Afghanistan -- The Honorable Heidi Shyu, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisitions, Technology & Logistics and General Dennis Via, Commanding General, U.S. Army Materiel Command visit New Kabul Compound, Afghanistan March 18. Shyu and Via are visiting Afghanistan in order to ensure that distribution, maintenance and materiel requirements remain on track with strategic and operational plans and national objectives supporting drawdown and transition actions in multiple countries in conjunction with global missions and the CENTCOM and COMISAF commander's intent.
