AL UDEID AIR BASE, Qatar- The U.S. Army Human Resources Command based out of Fort Knox, Ky. has been busy spreading the word about the new Officer Evaluation Report that will come into effect in April of this year.

This week Lt. Col Bettina Avent, who works for the U.S. Army Resources Command, evaluations, selections and promotion division was on Al Udeid Air Base to brief U.S. Army Officers and Warrant Officer on the new evaluations system.

"This new system focuses more on an Officer's character and potential for future assignments as well as their performance during the rating period," said Avent.

"The new Officer Evaluation Reporting system will apply to all commissioned officers and warrant officers. It will feature clearer responsibilities for the rating officials, so that the rater is focused on performance and the senior rater on the potential of the officers being considered for promotion," said Avent.

This stop at AUAB is one of many HRC is conducting throughout the U.S. Army Central Command area of responsibility to educate Officers and Warrant Officers on the new evaluation system.

"The training today was great, the new OER has a lot of ins and outs to it but overall I think it will truly capture our potential to serve at a higher level rather than expand upon our current proficiency, said Capt Jose Lopez, an assistant operations officer at 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade.

"We will continue to educate and inform leaders on this new report and HRC will continue to refine this system as needed, we truly do believe that this overhaul will result in an absolute fair and balanced report of an officers potential," said Avent.
