JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas (March 4, 2014) -- More than 40 Soldiers and family members attended the 919th Contingency Contracting Battalion Family Readiness Group meeting Feb. 21 at Fort Bliss, Texas.Army family readiness groups across the service help Soldiers, their families and extended families who are experiencing frequent and long deployments to become more knowledgeable and self-reliant. FRG members from the 919th CCBn came together for their quarterly meeting where they also enjoyed pizza, drinks and snacks while the children spent time playing with toys and board games.Lt. Col. Joel Greer, the battalion commander who also leads the Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Bliss contracting office, welcomed all who were in attendance and thanked them for their support to the group.Greer explained to family members how vital they are to the overall mission of the Army and battalion.Captains Jeromy Raatz and Monte Tartt delivered a brief summary of the structure of the FRG, future meetings and a snapshot of the state of the group. Raatz ended the brief by reminding Soldiers and family members that the group is committed to having fun and building a team.Greer and Master Sgt. Dujuania Deloatch thanked the Soldiers and family members who volunteered and donated their time to a fundraiser during January's Operational Contract Support Joint Exercise."This is the most close-knit group of Soldiers I have seen during my career, and I am very fortunate to be your commander," Greer said. "Rest assured, if you need anything, Master Sergeant Deloatch and I are here for everyone in this command -- both Soldiers and family members."The commander also praised Tartt and Raatz for developing a program that was beyond what he ever thought it would become in such a short time.
