FORT BRAGG, N.C. (Feb. 3, 2014) -- A little bit of shock combined with some excitement, that's how Sgt. 1St Class David Dimoff described how he felt after hearing that he had been selected as the United States Army Reserve Command instructor of the year in the non-commissioned officer category.

The water purification specialist instructor assigned to the 8/80th Quartermaster Battalion, 94th Training Division said he's somewhat overwhelmed by the magnitude of the accomplishment.

"Teaching is something I enjoy doing and to be recognized for it at such a high level is an unbelievable feeling," said Dimoff who, in his civilian capacity, works as a high school teacher in Hughesville Pa.

Dimoff said the USARC award dwarfs the employee of the quarter and educator of the year awards he earned as an alternative education instructor teaching high risk youth.

Dimoff was able to compete in the USARC event after winning the 80th Training Command competition at Fort Knox, Ky., Jan. 8, 2014.He'll now compete in the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command competition in the Army Reserve enlisted category.
