Early on February 3rd 2014, the US Department of Defense and the Republic of Italy Ministry of Defense signed their first ever Memorandum of Understanding promoting joint and combined training and education activities between our two nations in support of peacekeeping operations.
Following the MOU signing, MG David Quantock, Provost Marshal General of the U.S. Army, and MG Ilio Ciceri, Chief of Staff of the national military police of Italy, Carabinieri, met to discuss shared opportunities for training and professional development between the U.S. Military Police Corps and the Carabinieri. Both MG Ciceri and MG Quantock reflected on the long relationship between their forces, to include operations in the Balkans, Iraq and currently in Afghanistan with the International Security Assistance Force mission. Both countries are committed to continuing a strong and successful relationship that will complement and improve our military police forces far into the future.
