Fort Benning introduces free smartphone app

FORT BENNING, Ga., (Jan. 8, 2014) -- Getting from here to there just got a little easier with a new smartphone app developed for Fort Benning. The Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation recently launched NotLost, a free app available on IPhone and Android devices.

The app offers a number of features missing from traditional military-related apps, including the ability to locate buildings by name or number, which is particularly challenging on military installations that do not number buildings sequentially. Once NotLost locates the facility you're looking for, it will give you turn-by-turn directions. These features will make NotLost a handy resource for newcomers, TDY travelers, new spouses, contractors and visitors.

The NotLost App is also an interactive guide to Fort Benning and the surrounding communities. It features step-by-step directions to help Soldiers navigate the process of "In-processing" upon arrival, and it offers a variety of guided tours, including a newcomers tour that covers the four cantonment areas and touches on the post's rich history.

When it comes time to find a new restaurant, the movie theatre, a brew pub or playground, Not Lost has the search function and updates to make sure the most current information is always available. Users will also find quick access to suicide prevention and sexual harassment prevention hotlines and one-click confidential emails to a Fort Benning chaplain.
