In addition to providing help online, the Department of Defense (DoD) Safe Helpline is also available by phone.

The Telephone Helpline is available from anywhere, anytime -- 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week, worldwide:

The phone number is the same inside the U.S. or via the Defense Switched Network (DSN): 877-995-5247

DSN users can dial US toll-free numbers by simply dialing 94 + the 10-digit toll-free number.

The Telephone Helpline provides confidential crisis intervention, support and information to members of the DoD community who have been sexually assaulted.

The Telephone Helpline can assist you if you've recently experienced an assault or if it occurred long ago. Safe Helpline staff will listen to your needs and concerns and discuss your long and short-term safety, resources and options. What is a Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC)?

SARCs ensure that victims of sexual assault within the department receive appropriate and responsive care. They serve as the single point of contact to coordinate sexual assault victim care. The term "Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC)" is used throughout the department to facilitate communication and transparency regarding sexual assault response capability.

What is a Civilian Sexual Assault Service Provider?

There are more than 1,100 sexual assault service providers across the country that work with Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) and Safe Helpline to help victims of sexual assault in their communities.

All RAINN affiliates operate 24/7 crisis telephone hotlines. These affiliate centers generally offer a wide range of services, or can refer you to another local service provider, for the following:

Individual counseling

Group counseling/support groups

Legal/criminal justice system advocacy

Crime victim assistance advocacy

Community education

Professional education

Casework/practical assistance

Emergency shelter

Hospital accompaniment
