Spotlight on…Staff Sgt. Justin J. Mansfield, contract specialist, 918th Contingency Contracting Battalion, Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Carson, Colo.

Describe your passion for your job.

I'm a contracting noncommissioned officer. My responsibilities include the coordination of customers' requirements and execution of supply, service, and minor construction contracts. For me it's enjoyable because I get to learn the business side of the government. By helping the customers and contractors achieve their goals with the best interest of the government is how I measure success.

Where do you call home?

I'm from Frontenac, Kan. In my spare time I like being outdoors conducting activities such as running, fishing, hunting, skiing, and snowboarding.

How does your job support the Soldier?

Without contracting, units wouldn't be able to get the supplies, services or facilities required to accomplish their missions. Therefore, when we give units capabilities that allow them to train, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States it benefits the American people.

What would you like others to know about you?

I would like others to know that I'm a silent professional and humble.
