REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- U.S. Army Materiel Command will host a change of responsibility for its senior enlisted leader in a ceremony at the Bob Jones Auditorium at 10 a.m. on Dec. 12.

Gen. Dennis L. Via, AMC commanding general, will host the ceremony that transfers responsibility from Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald T. Riling to Command Sgt. Maj. James K. Sims.

Riling joined AMC from U.S. Army Forces Command; he has served as command sergeant major to three 4-star generals. Riling will formally retire from the U.S. Army in January. He is a Silver Star recipient, the third highest combat medal a Soldier can receive, a Legion of Merit recipient and Bronze Star recipient.

In Riling, we see a great patriot, a great leader and a great Soldier, said Via, during a recent town hall meeting.

Sims' previous assignment was as the command sergeant major of the Combined Arms Support Command at Fort Lee, Va.

Media interested in interviews or attending the ceremony should contact Lisa Simunaci, AMC Public Affairs at 256-450-8564.
