
YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea --United States Forces of Korea honored both Korean Nationals and U.S. Civilian employees for their hard work and dedication to the peninsula during the twenty-first annual USFK Civilian Employee of the Year Award ceremony at Dragon Hill Lodge here, 20 Nov.
Sixteen winners were chosen from a group of 96 nominees, who were considered the 'best of the best' from their respective organizations.

"This is an honor to be recognized for an outstanding year of working for the Yongsan community, said Choe, Han Chol, assistant fire chief at USAG Yongsan Directorate of Emergency Services. " I really like helping the community and will continue to do so to keep Yongsan safe."
Choe said he strives for excellence through hard work, attention to detail and a willingness to serve the USFK community in many different ways. Some of his accomplishments include:
- Coordinated Seoul City Fire Department firefighting vehicle time response for CP TANGO
- Supported Allgood Community Hospital mass casualty exercise; expertly performed as the Incident Operations Officer; oversaw fire ground and rescue operations; superbly directed firefighting and patient care/evacuation; exercise deemed an outstanding success
- Directly supported accreditation of USFK's largest Community Youth and School Age Services (CYSS) Programs; all CYSS facilities received full compliance scores; dedication and multiagency cooperation ensured safety and mission success! 6th year in a row!
- Senior fire officer responsible for leading the USAG-Y Fire and Emergency Services Division to fifth consecutive IMCOM-Korea/Pacific "Outstanding" ORI Rating
- Helped to improve the community fire safety with planned, coordinated, and implemented techniques during the annual Far East District (FED) Compound Mutual-Aid Exercise
- Continues to improve USFK and Republic of Korea (ROK) relations; lead USAG-Y's fire-fighting efforts during a major K-16 and ROKAF joint aircraft firefighting and rescue exercise
-- Provided expert on-scene command and control of firefighting resources
