ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Brig. Gen. Ted C. Harrison made his first trip here as Army Contracting Command's commanding general on Nov. 15.

Harrison attended office calls with ACC- Rock Island Executive Director Melanie A. Johnson, Maj. Gen. John F. Wharton, commanding general of Army Sustainment Command, and Brig. Gen. Kristin K. French, commanding general of the Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command and Joint Munitions Command.

Harrison also had a brown-bag lunch with ACC-RI officers, toured the ACC-RI complex, attended a briefing with ACC-RI senior leaders, toured the contract closeout warehouse and held a town hall meeting.

During a town hall with ACC-RI Soldiers and civilians, Harrison outlined his overall philosophy and expectations as commanding general. He also revealed a personal connection to the Quad Cities area: he met his wife, Wendy, in Rock Island, Ill., and married her in Davenport, Iowa.

Harrison also presided over a re-enlistment ceremony for Staff Sgt. Betsy Weintraub, a contract specialist at ACC-RI, and presented a certificate of appreciation to Weintraub's husband, Nelson Leon Monserratte.

Harrison assumed command of ACC on Oct. 2, after serving as commanding general of the Expeditionary Contracting Command, an ACC subordinate command, since April 2012.
