FORT BENNING, Ga., (Nov. 20, 2013) --The Fort Benning Bengals locked up the second seed in the Peanut Bowl playoffs Saturday with a 19-0 win over the Eastwood Red Devils.

After opening the game with a 10-play scoreless drive, the Bengals' defense got the ball back for the offense on the Red Devils' first play from scrimmage with David Lacy recovering a fumble on the Eastwood 19-yard line.

Four plays later, Dishaun Woods hit Kywan Woods on a dump pass over the left side of the line and Kywan fought through blockers for the 9-yard touchdown and a Bengals 6-0 lead.

The Bengals stopped the Red Devils on their ensuing possession and scored seven plays later on a Dishaun 7-yard touchdown run with 6:48 remaining in the first half. Kywan added the one-point conversion to give the Bengals a 13-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later, the Bengals' special teams gave added another score on a 45-yard punt return by Dishaun to give the Bengals a 19-0 lead.

The lone Red Devils' scoring threat came with 16 seconds remaining in the first half following a Bengals' bobbled snap on a punt attempt.

With time running out in the half, the Red Devils lined up on the Bengals' 2-yard line, but the Bengals' Antonio Lemus broke through the line and sacked the Red Devils' quarterback on the Bengals' 15-yard line to quash the scoring threat, and preserving the shutout.

Following the win, Bengals' coach Calvin Flint said the team would need to correct some things before going into the playoffs, which begin Thursday.

"We started out real slow in the beginning," Flint said. "We caught a couple of breaks early, but the offense didn't do anything today."

Flint said one of the main areas needing work was the offensive line.

"No one was doing their blocking assignments," he said. "They're just getting away from what we have been doing and we are heading into the playoffs. So, next week, we're going to get back down to the basics, get our blocking assignments down, get these guys running hard in the middle and then I will feel better."

With the Red Devils' loss to the Bengals, they become the fourth seed in the playoffs and will return to Doughboy Stadium Thursday to face the Bengals for the second time in less than a week and the third time this season to play for a spot in the Peanut Bowl championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium.

Game time for Thursday's first-round game at Doughboy Stadium against the Red Devils is 7 p.m.

If the Bengals win, they're in the championship game, lose, and the season is over.
