FORT BENNING, Ga., (Nov. 13, 2013) -- The Child, Youth & School Services Cobras faced off against the Bulldogs Saturday in the 9- to 10-year-old tackle football league and moved to 8-0 with a 19-0 win.

After holding the Bulldogs on their first possession, the Cobras got on the board first following a 10-play, 68-yard drive culminating in a Ethan Bibb 3-yard run. The extra point conversion failed and the Cobras led 6-0.

Following a Bulldog fumble, the Cobras scored their second touchdown as time expired in the first half with Donovan Pearman getting into the end zone on a 5-yard touchdown run. Mark Anthony converted the extra point and the Cobras went into the half leading 13-0.

The Cobras added one more touchdown as time expired in the game on a 28-yard catch and run from quarterback Devon Keith to Mark for the 19-0 win.

"Out goal was to come out strong in the first quarter," Cobras coach Anthony Bair said. "We wanted to catch them by surprise. It didn't quite work out that way wanted it to, but we picked it up and got (the win)."

Bair said unforeseen circumstances played a part in the lack of offensive output in the second half.

"We slowed down a bit in the second half because of injuries," he said. "Other than that, the players did what they were taught and what they had to do."

Ethan scored one touchdown and scored a second touchdown that was nullified by a holding call, and was the primary running back in the Cobras offensive game plan.

"Ethan is a great player," Bair said. "He likes to win, he is very competitive and I put the ball in his hands and he just does what he does. He is quick and a fast learner."

All game long Bair said he tried to get a completed pass, and on the final play of the game, he got what he was looking.

"It was a little swing pass out of the backfield," Bair said. "Actually he did run the play I called, but it worked out for us. I think they changed the play in the huddle and it was fine with me."

Following the game, the team capped off the win with a celebration -- a birthday celebration for Bair, who turned 24 Saturday.

The Cobras play their final game of the season Saturday at French Field.
