Reaffirming our commitment

By Maj. Gen. H. R. McMasterNovember 13, 2013

FORT BENNING, Ga., (Nov. 13, 2013) -- November is Warrior Care Month. During this month, we reaffirm our commitment to providing our Soldiers and Families with the best possible programs and services to care for their needs.

In terms of caring for our wounded, ill and injured Soldiers, our Warrior Transition Unit and all Fort Benning leaders remain committed to ensuring all our Soldiers receive the best health care possible and successfully return to their operational units or successfully transition into the civilian world. At the same time, we must rededicate ourselves to our mission of preparing leaders and Soldiers for the challenges of combat.

The theme for this year's observance is "Building a Ready and Resilient Force." The importance of building resiliency in our force and in our Family members cannot be underestimated. Leaders must ensure that our units and Soldiers are prepared mentally, emotionally and psychologically for the challenges of service, just as they prepare physically. Today, and in the future, we must ensure that we are developing cohesive teams and resilient Soldiers who are capable of overcoming the enduring psychological and moral challenges of combat.

As we mark Warrior Care Month this year, let's continue to honor the sacrifices made by our Soldiers and Families by maintaining our commitment to our vital mission and working together to provide them with services that are commensurate to their sacrifices.

One Force, One Fight!
