ANSBACH, Germany (Oct. 31, 2013) -- The U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach Public Affairs Office hosted a special installation tour for members of Outreach-KONTAKT Ansbach, a German-American friendship group that brings together Germans and Americans from all walks of life for the expressed purpose of meeting and socializing.
The Outreach-KONTAKT clubs make up U.S. Army Europe's only regulatory outreach community relations program and connect the Army populace to the local populace in current, enduring and former USAREUR communities. Outreach-KONTAKT Ansbach hosted its inaugural meeting July 2 and has since expanded to include regular Stammtisches and other events like German bowling.
The Oct. 25 tour was geared toward members of the host-nation community, but it was open to all Outreach-KONTAKT Ansbach members.
Bianca Sowders, community relations adviser for USAG Ansbach PAO, led the tour in German and gave the group a close-up look at everyday life for those who live and work at Katterbach and Urlas. The tour included a drive-through of Katterbach that included stops at Army Community Service facilities, and a glimpse of quality-of-life services at Urlas including the Post Exchange, the Commissary and Brainard Hall, the Ansbach Army Lodge.
More events are planned and the group is always open to new members, whether they are living in Ansbach or in the surrounding communities. To learn more, visit www.facebook.com/OutreachKONTAKTAnsbach, or call 0981-183-7786 or DSN 468-7786.
