PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - Due to the furlough of government employees, the scheduled Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) kick-off celebration on Oct. 9 was cancelled and a mid-season rally will take place at a later date.
The annual campaign began Oct. 9 and is one of two such campaigns authorized in the federal work place.
There are more than 3,500 organizations in the Northern New Jersey region that Picatinny employees can choose to donate to through the CFC.
Employees who wish to contribute may designate which charities receive their money by filling out CFC pledge card. Additionally, users of the online myPay site can now make a "CFC ePledge," a paperless payroll deduction allotment, to their favorite local, national or international charities directly from the Main Menu of the myPay site.
Pledges made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.
Locally, the campaign benefits agencies on post, such as Picatinny Arsenal's Youth Development Services, Picatinny Arsenal Army Community Service and Picatinny Arsenal Child Development Services.
Picatinny employees donated $261,000 through the CFC campaign in 2012, said Maj. Alicia Johnson, Picatinny CFC Site Coordinator.
"Northern New Jersey CFC raised more than $1.1 million and nationally, CFC raised more than $61.5 million through donations in 2012, including the Department of Defense, who raised $12.5 million with more than 29,000 DoD employees that made donations." Johnson said.
Individuals may choose to spread out their donations throughout the year if they don't want to or cannot pay by check immediately.
The CFC season runs through Dec. 5. Pledge information will be effective for the first pay period in January 2014.
