USAG RED CLOUD Aca,!" The Pear Blossom Cottage playground underwent a transformation June 16 with purchase of new equipment and a new design aimed at increasing the safety and appearance of the childrenAca,!a,,cs playground.
The area had been off limits for four months while waiting for new equipment, including swings and an adventure playground, purchased by the Directorate of Public Works, said Denise James, director of Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation.
Aca,!A"The previous playground equipment had been in place since the cottage opened in 2003,Aca,!A? James said. Aca,!A"We did not have anyone with playground equipment experience; the equipment had not been maintained and was not safe due to weathering.Aca,!A?
James said the USAG-RC garrison commander provided programs, like those found in the United States , in order to better serve the local community. With this assistance, PBC Manager Natalia Levtchenko was able to choose new equipment and a new design for the playground.
Mun, Chon Su, project manager for DPW, said DPW was responsible for ordering the equipment and ensuring its safety; directing workers hired to place the equipment; making sure it was painted to specific designs; and the project completed on time. However, James said poor weather had caused delays.

PBC managers also underwent training to familiarize themselves with the new equipment.
