FORT CAMPBELL, Ky., (Sept. 19, 2013) -- More than 20 Soldiers assigned to 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) participated in a mortar fire field training exercise, September 19, 2013.

Two mortar teams worked in unison with forward observers to shoot more than 100 mortar rounds in order increase both groups' proficiency.

The live fire portion is the culminating event of the exercise once teams have successfully completed their gunner's exams, fire direction center certifications, and safety checks.
