CAMP HOVEY - July 4, 2008, was a day to remember for Pfc. Miguel Palazuelos, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1-15 Field Artillery. He won a 2008 Harley Davidson, Limited Edition, XL 1200cc Custom Sportster valued at $13,000 in the 2008 'Ride Free' promotion sponsored by Miller Brewing Company.

Palazuelos said he was one of five semi-finalists from each U.S. Army Garrison drawn peninsula-wide to compete in the final drawing for the motorcycle at USAG-Humphries.

"During the grand prize drawing," he explained, "all five of us were led to a box (and told to draw a) number. "The contestant with the highest number (was first to) pick a key to open a chest. I had the lowest number and, in a reversal, the person with the lowest number got to open the chest first."

Palazuelos said his key opened the chest, which enabled him to win the bike. "When I opened the chest my first thought was: 'Do all the keys open the lock'' I was told all the keys had been tested numerous times to make sure only one opened the lock."

Palazuelos said he was ecstatic upon discovering he had won the Harley. "I have never won anything like this before, so I was extremely happy," he said. "Who wouldn't be' It's a free Harley."

Palazuelos entered the event through Family Morale, Welfare, and Recreation, who helped sponsor the contest with Installation Management Command Korea.

Because of existing road laws in the USAG-Red Cloud area, Palazuelos said it is unlikely he will be allowed to ride the bike, but said he is still happy to have won.

"I'd like to thank Miller Company, FMWR and IMCOM for having events like this for the Soldiers to show their support for us," Palazuelos said.
