FORT SILL, Okla. -- More than 75 Soldiers assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 75th Fires Brigade, received a received a loud and thunderous applause from family members, friends, fellow Soldiers and veterans Sept. 3 as they marched through the doors of Rinehart Fitness Center here.
The unit returned to Fort Sill after a nine-month deployment to various locations spanning the U.S. Central Command's area of operations.
"I'm proud of them. They are great Soldiers doing a great mission," said Col. Michael Eastman, 75th FiB commander.
The "Tough as Diamonds" brigade operated as the force field artillery headquarters for Army Central Command and served as its command and control asset for artillery missions throughout the CENTCOM region.
"The exercises we did with our partners were certainly beneficial to us and them," said Eastman.
The Lawton-native said the unit will soon resume training as normal and "wait for the next time our number gets called to go out and do the nation's business."
He said that although that day is unknown, the unit will be ready when it is called.
