Callaway Gardens hosts hot air balloon festival this weekend

FORT BENNING, Ga., (Aug. 28, 2013) -- Callaway Gardens bids farewell to summer Aug. 31 through Sept. 2 during the 15th annual Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival. Guests can float in a balloon safely tethered to the ground with a unique view of the landscape during morning and afternoon launches.

At dusk, the skies will light up during the Friday Night Balloon Glow and continue all weekend.

Guests who prefer ground transportation can enjoy a classic car show collection of antique cars, trucks, customs and street rods at the open car show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Robin Lake Beach Dome. Other entertainment includes live music, beach activities, disc dog demonstrations, a pyrotechnic skydiving demonstration, a Kids Zone and a 5K race and triathlon event.

Photographers can sign up for the hands-on Mastering Night Photography course. Sports fans can watch television at the Beach Bar and five of Atlanta's top-rated food trucks will offer hamburgers, cheese steaks and more throughout the festival.

The festival will conclude with a final balloon glow Sunday night on Robin Lake Beach. Admission is $25 for adults ages 13-64, $20 for seniors 65 and older, $12.50 for children 6-12 and free for children 2 and younger.
