The Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) delivered "One School, One Goal, Drug and Bully Free" backpacks to George Evans Elementary School students (grades K-5) as part of the Army's Red Ribbon Campaign, Monday, August 26.

The giveaway is part of the Army's Red Ribbon Campaign -- an effort to promote drug-use prevention and a bully-free school environment to at-risk students. Depot Commander Colonel Billingsley Garner Pogue met with students and talked to them about the importance of staying drug-free and to discourage bullying.

The Assistant Secretary of Defense has designated Red Ribbon Week as an official Department of Defense (DoD) campaign in support of substance abuse education and prevention activities in the military. Each year the military services promote Red Ribbon Week activities. The DoD and Army have developed a number of educational programs to raise awareness of substance abuse and disorders. CCAD is no exception.

As in previous years, the CCAD Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) began its annual Red Ribbon events in conjunction with the beginning of the school year.
