Local Soldiers punished for offenses

At a general court-martial convened on Katterbach Kaserne, Ansbach, from July 23-25, Staff Sgt. Victor L. Wilson, 3-158th Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, was found not guilty, in accordance with his pleas, of one charge and two specifications of violating Article 134, indecent acts, but was found guilty of a lesser included offense of assault consummated by a battery upon a child under the age of 16 years.

An enlisted panel sentenced Wilson to a reduction to the grade of E-4, forfeiture of $500 pay per month for two months, and confinement for 60 days.

At a general court-martial convened on Katterbach Kaserne, Ansbach, from July 17-18, Spc. Michael J. Watts, E Company, 5-158th Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, was found not guilty, in accordance with his pleas, of one charge and one specification of violating Article 120, rape, and one charge and two specifications of violating Article 107, false official statement.

At a special court-martial convened on Rose Barracks, July 6, Pvt. Maurice Barnes, C Troop, Regimental Support Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, was found guilty, in accordance with his pleas, of one charge and two specifications of violating Article 86, absence without leave, one charge and one specification of violating Article 128, assault consummated by a battery, one charge and two specifications of violating Article 92, failure to obey a lawful general regulation, and one charge and one specification of drunk and disorderly conduct.

The military judge sentenced Barnes to be reprimanded, confinement for 160 days, and a bad-conduct discharge.

At a general court-martial convened on Rose Barracks from July 1-3, Spc. Brandon S. Rawson, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 172nd Infantry Brigade, was found not guilty, in accordance to his plea, of one charge and one specification of violating Article 120, abusive sexual contact with a child, but was found guilty, contrary to his pleas, of violating Article 125, sodomy with a child under the age of 12 years and of violating Article 128, assault consummated by a battery upon a child under the age of 16 years.

The military judge sentenced Rawson to a reduction to the grade of E-1, confinement for six years, and a dishonorable discharge.
