More than 20 cadets from the Republic of Korea's 10th Fighter Wing visited Bravo Battery of the 6th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery here, July 1. This event seeks to strengthen the friendship between the two units, who have been neighbors on Suwon Air Base since 2009, when the "Iron Horse" battalion moved here.
"We truly thank 6-52 ADA for providing a chance to experience the US Army culture," said Maj. Lim Jung Hyun, from the 10th FW. "Through this visit, we expect to strengthen the bond between Korean and US soldiers," Capt. Lee Humphrey, the US Patriot battery commander, welcomed the Korean service members, guided them through his unit's positions, familiarizing them with the equipment and their mission, and allowing the cadets to see the crews in action and even try on some of their combat gear.
"I love events like this," said Cpt. Lee Humphrey, Bravo Battery commander. "As a battery commander, I was happy to introduce our mission in Suwon to the neighbor unit. I hope events like today happen on regular basis in order to maintain the friendship."
"It was an invaluable opportunity to see advanced equipment of the US Army," said Choi Soo Young, a cadet with the 10th FW. "I was able to learn about the importance of the 6-52 ADA in Suwon, and hope this alliance gets stronger when I become an officer." The three-hour event ended with a group photo in front of a Patriot missile launcher and commitments for future visits.
