Major Irvin Nelms III and family smile following his promotion ceremony. Maj. Gen. Michael S. Linnington, commanding general of the Joint Force Headquarters - National Capital Region and the U.S. Military District of Washington was the presiding officer during the ceremony held at Fort McNair, June 20, 2013. Nelms has served as Executive Officer to the Commanding General since December 2012.
