US supports ANA with air medevac

A U.S. Black Hawk helicopter fires a flare while departing Combat Outpost Zerok, bearing a wounded Afghan National Army soldier May 27, 2013. U.S. and ANA forces came under heavy fire during Operation Zafar, a 10-day security patrol into Afghanistan's Nikeh District. The ANA's 3rd Kandak, 2nd Brigade, 203rd Corps overwhelmed extremists during the mission, clearing dozens of villages and securing the district with little assistance from the Americans. U.S. forces from 2/10 Security Forces Assistance Brigade accompanied the ANA to offer tactical advice and emergency assistance. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Spc.
