U.S. Army Europe welcomes new deputy commanding general

U.S. Army Europe welcomed its new Deputy Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Richard Longo this week after he departed his previous assignment as the commander, Combined Joint Inter-Agency Task Force-Afghanistan.

Longo replaces the previous deputy commander, Maj. Gen. James C. Boozer who departed in May and is serving as the commander of U.S. Army Japan and Commander of I Corps (forward) also in Japan.

Longo has had multiple previous tours in Germany where he, among other assignments, served as the executive officer for the USAREUR deputy commander, commander of the 1st Infantry Division Artillery and as the chief of the operations division in the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch, Germany.
