ST. LOUIS (June 4, 2013) -- A levee breach occurred at approximately noon today on the Consolidated North County levee near West Alton, Mo.
St. Louis District Corps of Engineers flood fight personnel confirmed the breach shortly after it was reported.
The Corps is on site and coordinating with the State of Missouri, the levee districts, St. Charles County, the City of West Alton and the Missouri Department of Transportation to make sure that everyone remains safe.
Flood fight teams are currently deployed along the Missouri, Mississippi and Illinois Rivers to monitor levees and provide technical assistance and supplies to local flood fighting efforts.
