Sardis Lake Youth Fishing Rodeo

Sardis, Miss… The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District (Corps), the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks and First Security Bank of Batesville, Mississippi are partnering to host the 25th annual Sardis Lake Youth Fishing Rodeo. It will be held 1 June 2013 at the Cypress Point Recreation Area. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. with the rodeo starting at 7:30 a.m.

A section of the Lower Lake at Cypress Point will be netted off and stocked with catfish. Participants must be 1 -- 15 years of age and accompanied by an adult. Participants must be registered and bring their own fishing equipment and bait.

Although the primary mission of Sardis Lake is flood damage risk reduction, over 1.4 million individuals visit the 98,371-acre recreational area annually to enjoy the camping, playgrounds, swimming areas, several types of trails, fishing, boat ramps and marinas. The lake traffic brings approximately $34.5 million to the local economy and supports approximately 464 jobs. Sardis Lake is one of the four lakes in north Mississippi maintained and operated by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District.
