ARLINGTON (May 22, 2013) - - More than 1,500 audience visitors to the Nation's Capital watched General Raymond T. Odierno, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army present five Outstanding Civilian Service Awards during a special military musical production at Joint Base Myer - Henderson Hall's Whipple Field.

The Outstanding Civilian Service Award is presented to civilians not employed by the Army, and cannot be presented to federal government officials at the policy-development level, or technical personnel who assist the Army as a consultant or advisor. It is the third-highest honor within the Department of the Army that may be presented to a private citizen.

Awardees were Gary Sinise, The Gary Sinise Foundation founder; Kathleen Gagg, Got Your Back Network executive director; Kenneth Fisher, Fisher House chairman; Deborah Tymon, the New York Yankees marketing senior vice president, and Ryan Blanck, Center for the Intrepid prosthetist.

The show, called 'Salute from the Chief' was produced by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington and featured an hour- long military pageant featuring Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own."
