Warrior Transition Battalion gets new commander

FORT BENNING, Ga., (May 22, 2013) -- Lt. Col. Veronica A. Kouassi relinquished command to Lt. Col. Kyle Feger in a ceremony officiated by Col. Timothy Lamb, commander of U.S. Army Medical Department Activity and Martin Army Community Hospital.

The ceremony was May 13 at the Warrior Transition Battalion Headquarters and was attended by fellow commanders, command sergeants major, Family and friends.

Lt. Col. Kouassi enlisted in the Army Reserve as a private in 1981 and earned her commissioning as a second lieutenant in the Medical Services Corps in 1988 through the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps. She was selected by the Department of the Army to command the Warrior Transition Battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

"As I reflect over the past 11 months, I am deeply touched by the outpour of love and compassion I have received. I am most grateful for the relationships that were built, friendships that were cultivated, and the exceptional work we accomplished together," Kouassi said. "I asked for love and God gave me the Fort Benning Warrior Transition Battalion to command."

Feger graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1992 as an Infantry officer. Before taking command of the Warrior Transition Battalion, he served as the commander of 2nd Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment. "I am honored and humbled to have the awesome opportunity to lead this superb organization with such an important mission," Feger said.

"Taking care of our wounded, ill and injured Soldiers is a noble calling and we at the Warrior Transition Battalion will continue to do everything possible to provide world class medical, educational, and occupational services to our Soldiers and Families in Transition. We owe our Soldiers that much for their dedicated service and sacrifices over the past 12 years of combat."
