HOHENFELS, Germany -- Families, friends and fellow Soldiers gathered to show their support at a deployment ceremony for members of the 527th Military Police Company, 2nd platoon, recently.

"These Soldiers were hand selected to represent the 527th in Kosovo," said 1st Lt. Tillman J. Busbee, 527th MP Company commander. Each Soldier was chosen for a specific reason and a unique skill set, he added.

This is not the unit's first time in the region. The 527th spent six months in Kosovo beginning in November 2000. Their mission this time will be to provide law enforcement at Camp Bondsteel.

Their most recent deployment ended in March 2012, when they returned from supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

"These Soldiers have spent the last eight months training for this," said Lt. Col. Steven G. Yamashita, the 709th Military Police Battalion commander. "They've spend countless hours training on everything from warrior tasks and battle drills … to honing their professional law enforcement skills."

Busbee pointed out that the ceremony was not only about the Soldiers, but also the families who have provided unwavering support to both their Soldier and the 527th.

"(These Soldiers) will make their mark and help write a new chapter in the Balkans," said Busbee.
