YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea - - Yongsan handed Daegu landslide losses during double-header post-level men's softball action June 22.

The first game didn't get past the second inning. Yongsan hammered home 16 runs in the top of the second and wrapped up the game with a scoreless bottom, 25-3.

"The first game, we made a lot of mental mistakes," said Daegu's co-coach Andre Elder. "We got a lot of young guys who are still learning the game. Once they get the game down, we'll be OK."

Daegu, taken aback by the unexpected blowout, took the 20-minute break to regroup to fight back in the second game.

At first, it looked better. Daegu scored three runs in the top of the first. But Yongsan showed no mercy, launching a 12-run scoring drive. For a moment, it seemed like a game one repeat, but

Yongsan didn't close the deal as fast, giving up unnecessary runs from fielding errors. The game did end early, however, as the game went over the time limit after the top of the fifth inning. The final score was 26-18, Yongsan.

"We really hit the ball well today," said Don Cook, Yongsan's head coach. "That's something we've been struggling with once in a while. Our fielding wasn't the best, but we hit well."

Yongsan's record currently stands at 18-4. Daegu is 7-6.

The two teams will meet again during a Korea-wide softball tournament set for the first week of August.
