CAMP CASEY -- U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I Directorate of Public Works, Chief Environmental Division Everett Langford made welcoming remarks to Earth Day Poster Contest participants, families, teachers and senior leadership in front of the Camp Casey Exchange April 22.

Langford lauded the Exchange for not only hosting the gallery of contestant posters but by setting the example with a program that transforms food court waste oil into soap and bio diesel.

"Today we all recognize the importance of protecting and improving the earth's environment," said Langford. "Earth Day is not just April 22, but every day of the year."

To commemorate Earth Day, elementary school students from neighboring Bosan and Casey Elementary, submitted posters representing their thoughts on the Earth's plight.

Chief Warrant Officer Joe Micou and his wife Maggie were on hand to support their daughter Deja, "We make sure that we encourage and support our daughter all the time," said Micou. "Education is important."

"Today we celebrate not only a spirit of partnership between our two nations for peace, but also for the earth," said Col. John M. Scott, commander U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and Area I.
