Name: Stephen W. Brodersen, senior concept development analyst, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Hometown: Northfield, Minn.

Years of federal service: 37 years (26 years active duty, retired lieutenant colonel; 11 years as a Department of the Army civilian, all with SMDC)

Education: Master of Science in administration

Marital status: Married for 39 years

Children: Two daughters and two grandsons

Activities/hobbies: Golf, fishing and boating

Favorite movie: The Sting

Favorite TV show: Castle

Favorite band: No specific band -- enjoy jazz and the oldies (70s-80s)

Favorite thing about working for the Army: Serving with Soldiers and being able to make a difference in the future of the Army

What made you want to work for the Army: I was one of the last draftees in the early 1970s. I enjoyed the Army and earned a commission through Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Ga. I served as an air defense officer, and following retirement, I looked for an opportunity to continue to serve and make a positive contribution to our nation.
