Fort Huachuca, Arizona - Fort Huachuca hosted its annual Prayer Breakfast at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre May 7 on the National Day of Prayer.

During the event, prayers were offered for the nation, the armed forces, Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista and family members. Following the prayers, Fort Huachuca Chaplain (Col.) Kim Norwood introduced guest speaker, Chaplain Col. Greg Edison, the incoming chaplain for the Network Enterprise Technology Command who will assume his new position July 7.

We are very fortunate to have a chaplain of this caliber come to Fort Huachuca," Norwood said at the event.

"[Greg Edison] has a phenomenal heart for God and he speaks with a prophetic voice."

Edison gave a sermon on the topic of spiritual resiliency, explaining to guests at the Prayer Breakfast that, "obeying God's voice yields supernatural results."

At the event, Maj. Gen. Robert Ashley, commanding general, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence and Fort Huachuca, awarded Edison with a Buffalo Soldier statue.

According to Norwood, the National Prayer Breakfast usually takes place in February.

"There was so much that was going on in February, [that] the National Prayer Breakfast was moved to May 7 -- the National Day of Prayer," Norwood said.

A total of 375 tickets were distributed for the event, explained Lt. Col. Steve Magilio, the deputy garrison chaplain and Fort Huachuca Prayer Breakfast coordinator.

Among the guests who attended, Sierra Vista Mayor Rick Mueller, three city council members and members of the Sierra Vista religious community were present.

"It's a blessing that the installation still honors the National Day of Prayer," Edison said.

"With a community like Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca, [this event] is great because this is definitely a family setting"
