Constitution Font

The typography on the uniforms links the Army's present to America's founding documents. Written in the same style as the United States Constitution, it showcases the importance of having an Army that swears loyalty to a set of ideas rather than a monarch. These players will all swear to uphold and defend this very document - a compact that has guided our nation throughout its vaunted history - upon their graduation and commissioning into the United States Army.

AMERICA'S FIRST NATIONAL INSTITUTION

Since its establishment on June 14, 1775 — more than a year before the Declaration of Independence — the U.S. Army has played a vital role in the growth and development of the American nation. Drawing on both long-standing militia traditions and recently introduced professional standards, it won the new republic's independence in an arduous eight-year struggle against Great Britain. At times, the Army provided the lone symbol of nationhood around which patriots rallied.

Today's Army

Older than the nation it defends, the U.S. Army has made a difference in America's history since its founding. More than that, it continues to have an impact on the globe. From defending the homeland, responding to disasters and supporting multinational exercises, the Army's impact at home and abroad cannot be understated.

U.S. ARMY CULTURE AND PROFESSIONS

U.S. Army culture is built on seven core values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. These values are instilled in Soldiers during basic combat training, instilling the importance of personal excellence and accountability. These values also help build trust with the American people through honorable service, military expertise and stewardship. Every Army professional — from combat, to support, to technical — live by these values in and out of uniform. Visit the Army 101 features to learn more about the values and culture of the U.S. Army.
