HOW IT WORKS

SOLDIERS HAVE IDEAS. TOGETHER WE CREATE SOLUTIONS.

The Airborne Innovation Lab (AIL) is the nexus of innovation activities across Fort Bragg by connecting Paratroopers and partners to learn, research, innovate, build, and explore new ideas to solve tactical problems. The AIL provides the resources and network to empower Paratrooper-centered innovation to increase readiness to win the future fight.

SOLVE TOMORROW'S PROBLEM TODAY.

The Airborne Innovation Lab shortens the time between the problem identification and the prototyped solution. With the capabilities and resources the AIL offers, Soldiers can have a solution in-hand within days.

CAPABILITIES

The AIL offers variety of capabilities to meet the need of the future warfighter. As the needs change, so does the tools and equipment available. Current capabilities include:

Digital Fabrication: 3D printers, 3D scanner, and workstations with Fusion360

Woodshop: CNC milling, laser cutting/etching, and other woodshop machinery/tools

Metal Shop: Welding, pressing, and general metalworking

Workshop: Robotics kits, soldering stations, electronics workstations with tools and components

Textile Station: Sewing machines, vacuum former, plotter cutter, heat-transfer vinyl, and ironing station

Design Thinking and Collaboration: Space for facilitating design thinking workshops and project collaboration
