Senior Enterprise Talent Management

What is it?

Under the direction of the Civilian Senior Leader Management Office (CSLMO), Senior Enterprise Talent Management (SETM), offers developmental experiences, academic achievement and training opportunities to advanced senior-level civilians (GS 14-15) with high potential and the desire to serve in leadership positions throughout the Department of the Army.

What has the Army done?

CSLMO has actively ensured that civilians are provided with the leadership opportunities.

There are four components of SETM:
&bull Developmental Experiences - Temporary experiential opportunities allow participants to strengthen competencies and leadership abilities that support the Army's most critical need.
&bull Education - Eligible individuals attend pre-determined, degree-granting colleges and universities for Academic Degree Training (ADT) or a developed curriculum of Executive Leadership Training.
&bull Professional Military Education - Senior Service College GS-14 and 15 selectees will attend either the Army War College (resident or non-resident) or the Industrial College of the Armed Forces .
&bull Placement - This component of SETM will focus on the placement of graduates, and the management and staffing of Army Enterprise Positions.

Why is this important to the Army?

SETM provides Army leaders a tool that they can use to advance the interests and career path of their civilian employees. Commands can use SETM as a tool to benefit their best and brightest senior-level civilians so that they may become eligible to obtain the education they desire (academic or military), to enhance their enterprise perspective and strengthen their leadership abilities. Graduates will either return to their previous organization in a new position with greater responsibility or be directly placed into another enterprise position.

What continued efforts does the Army have planned for the future?

SETM provides senior-level Army civilians with leadership growth opportunities, enterprise experience and exposure so they can compete at the highest level to fulfill the leadership needs of the Army. All GS-14 and 15 Army civilians who are eligible can apply through SETM for senior enterprise opportunities in the areas of advanced education and training or experiential development. Selected candidates receive the advanced level of education they desire (academic or military) or simply gain a new perspective by applying for one of several developmental experiences. Eligible civilians are encouraged to talk to their functional chief representative (FCR) about SETM criteria.
