Friday, April 3, 2015

What is it?

The Army antiterrorism awareness theme for the third quarter (April through June) fiscal 2015 (3Q/FY15) is Area of Responsibility (AOR) Awareness. The audience for this theme includes operational forces assigned or conducting missions overseas and individual travelers (both official and personal). This theme reinforces and supports the 2Q/FY15 theme of Antiterrorism Operations in Field Units.

What is the Army doing?

The focus areas for this quarterly awareness theme include:

  • – Threat assessments for OCONUS locations where units operate or individuals frequently travel
  • – Antiterrorism training for Regionally Aligned Forces
  • – Antiterrorism measures for forces in-transit
  • – Pre-deployment vulnerability assessments IAW AR 525-13 (Antiterrorism, 11 Sep 08), Standard 6 - (Terrorism Vulnerability Assessments)
  • – Individual antiterrorism awareness and training for personnel traveling overseas, especially to high terrorist threat locations

The Army Antiterrorism Enterprise Portal (ATEP) provides extensive information and resources for the entire Army community. The Department of the Army’s Antiterrorism Branch posted the following products to support this quarterly theme:

  • – DOD Foreign Clearance Guide booklet and source documents
  • – Army Threat Integration Center (ARTIC) product which highlights resources for commands to develop their Annual Threat Assessments
  • – Travel Alert Information Source document highlighting Army Service Component Command resources for AOR travel and threat information
  • United States European Command (EUCOM) developed Joint Risk Assessment Management Program (JRAMP) brochure
  • U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) developed Individual Antiterrorism Travel Plan (IATP) brochure
  • U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) developed Travel Guidance & Individual Protection Measures brochure
  • – USAREUR developed Antiterrorism for Unit Commanders brochure
  • Army North (ARNORTH) developed Mexico Travel Procedures
  • U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) G2 Intelligence Support Activity (TRISA) Handbook No. 1.07 C3: TTPs in Complex Operational Environments
  • – Travel awareness poster

What continued efforts does the Army have planned for the future?

The remaining antiterrorism quarterly awareness themes and focus areas for FY15 include:

  • -4Q/FY15: Antiterrorism Training
  • -August 2015: Observance of Antiterrorism Awareness Month

Why is it important to the Army?

Army forces and individual travelers operating within or in-transit through OCONUS locations remain targets for terrorist attack. These units and individuals must maintain antiterrorism awareness and security to deter potential terrorist activities.
