New Armed Forces Reserve Center opens in Wilmington, N.C.

Approximately 300 Army Reserve Soldiers and 190 Navy Sailors will be assigned to the Armed Forces Reserve Center - Wilmington. The Army Reserve's 650th Transportation Company and the 1151st Transportation Company have a new place they can call home.

While many in the nation were remembering Pearl Harbor, the Alabama Army National Guard and the 81st Regional Support Command, US Army Reserve conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony on the new Joint Force Headquarters Armed Forces Readiness Center here on December 7, 2011.

Pro vs. GI Joe, a non-profit organization, found a way to put all three of these together to help celebrate and recognize the sacrifice our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines have made. The Pro vs. GI Joe organization, founded by Addie and Greg Zinone in 2007, sets up a video-game competitions between professional athletes and troops.

The belief that it has mystical powers has been adopted by believers in New Age philosophies. In the United States, the 11th day of the 11th month of any year is a time to honor the veteran's who have given so much, their very lives in many cases, to ensure the freedom and way of life of their country.

Medical readiness has always been an ongoing issue in the Army, especially during the last decade through two wars and numerous other missions worldwide. Some Soldiers are processed through what seems to be a virtual swamp of medical status terminology, acronyms and web-based information systems, resulting in some troops floating through that swamp for months and even years.
Army Human Resource leader's summit held at 81st RSC

An old saying goes, "If one is good, two (or more) is better." It certainly seemed that way at the 81st Regional Support Command as there were two important conferences being held here simultaneously. One was a medical readiness conference and the other a Human Resources leader summit held October 26-28. Approximately 200 senior leaders from across the active Army, Army Reserve and National Guard came together to focus on and discuss such issues as manning and non-deployability to doctrine of war and peacetime garrison operations.

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky -- A new US Army Reserve center on the Tennessee side of Fort Campbell had its ribbon cutting ceremony on October 1. The new Reserve center will be the home for three Mobilization Support Battalions, the 1108th, 1109th and 1110th, as well as the 2nd Battalion, 399th Regiment, an element of the 100th Division (Institutional Training). The MSBs were stood up in 2008.
Engagement Skills Trainer 2000 goes mobile

FORT JACKSON, S.C. -- As Master Sgt. Denise Underwood, a paralegal with the 81st Regional Support Command, was reading the summer edition of Warrior Citizen Magazine, she came across a story about a Mobile Engagement Skills Trainer 2000 (M-EST 2000). She made a phone call to the number provided and after a bit of coordination via the chain of command, the Mobile EST 2000 showed up in the parking lot of the 81st RSC, making the Wildcats the first RSC to utilize the service from September 24-27.
1st Army Reserve MEDEVAC unit since Gulf War prepares to deploy

TAMPA, FL -- Although one Yellow Ribbon event for deploying and redeploying Soldiers may look pretty much like any other, the one thing that changes is the unit. In this case the unit is F Company, 5/159th Aviation Regiment, a Medical Evacuation unit out of Clearwater, FL.
