    FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- Allons Soldiers stood tall and proud in formation as their battalion colors were furled during a casing ceremony April 8 at Magrath Sports Complex on Fort Drum. Soldiers of 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team completed one of the last remaining steps before heading off to Afghanistan.

    FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- A 10th Mountain Division veteran who was highly decorated for his actions during World War II was honored during a memorialization ceremony April 8 at Fort Drum. Fort Drum officials rededicated the Training Support Center as the 1st Lt. John S. Creaghe Training Support Center. Creaghe served with the 1st Battalion, 85th Mountain Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, during WWII.

Food service personnel from 10th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team participated in the field feeding category of the Department of the Army Phillip A. Connelly Awards food competition here March 27, showing that the expectation to contribute to mission success -- anytime and anywhere -- is for all Soldiers, whether they are infantrymen, medics or cooks.

  • 7th Brigade Engineer Battalion trains like champions during Resiliency Week

    FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- Soldiers from the Hammer Battalion lined up March 19 to draw weapons for the beginning of Operation Iron Hammer, the culminating exercise of the three-day resiliency focused event. As the first company entered the start point for the first event it was a mere 7 degrees, and the battalion chaplain's motto echoed in their minds: "Think like a champion, train like a champion, believe like a champion." The 7th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team executed its quarterly resiliency training March 17-19, focusing on developing skills that Soldiers and Families will need to meet challenges in the coming months.

A state championship qualifier, he considered himself skilled in the sport. Although he also began running around age 13, he did so primarily as a means of staying fit, and he felt he was just an average runner. If he had been told that one day he would be running two or three times a day nearly every day, he probably would not have believed it.

Some street names may be less familiar. Names like Po Valley, Mount Belvedere and Riva Ridge; those names are reminders of the division's not-so-distant past. Those are places are where the 10th Mountain Division earned its reputation during the Italian Campaign of World War II. Those are places where the Army's first mountain infantry Soldiers, who were expertly trained in winter warfare, experienced the harsh terrain of the Apennine Mountains.

    FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- Beginning Jan. 15, motorists who wish to access Fort Drum may notice some changes to the requirements to enter the post. Similar changes are being implemented across the Department of Army.
