    FORT KNOX, Ky. -- "We're all one. We're all the Army." That sentiment, expressed here this weekend by an Army Reserve colonel, reflects the Army's policy of partnering Reserve and National Guard units with their active-duty counterparts, with the goal of sharing information and maximizing training opportunities for all Soldiers, regardless of their Army affiliation. "We need to grow that [partnership] more. We need to enhance that capability more for the future," said Col. Richard Morgan, who lives in Mississippi but commutes to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, for his position as commander of the 301st Maneuver Brigade. "We can utilize each other's strengths to improve our own deficiencies." Morgan and more than 200 other commanders and senior leaders from the Army National Guard, Army Reserve, active Army, U.S. Army Forces Command and First Army met at Fort Knox Feb. 20-21 for the Total Force Fires, Aviation, Support, Surveillance and Signal Conference hosted by First Army. It was the third in a series of four conferences hosted by First Army for the reserve-component leaders of various types of units, beginning with a get-together for the National Guard's brigade combat teams in March 2015.

"First Army Division East, under the guidance of First Army, was activated on March 7, 2007, here to provide training and readiness oversight and mobilization operations for Army Reserve and Army National Guard units in an area of responsibility of 27 states and territories east of the Mississippi River," McKiernan said. The casing of Division East's colors signified the move of its headquarters from Fort Meade to Fort Knox, Kentucky, in accordance with First Army's Operation Bold Shift, a major transformation in personnel and mission focus that began last year.

"What the general said was so positive and moving," said Kimberly Huerta, a senior at Easton Valley High School in Dubuque, Iowa. "It changed my outlook on the Army and life in general." Tucker sat down with local area high school recruits inside First Army headquarters at Rock Island Arsenal on October 20 to give real world answers and share his past experiences about joining the Army. Tucker joined the Army when the "Be all you can be" slogan was popular. And, that is what you should do, he says. "Take the opportunities and use them to the best of your ability so that you can be all you CAN be."

While Thomas addressed big picture Army Reserve topics, Command Sgt. Maj. Kevin Greene, 85th Support Command senior enlisted advisor, focused on Soldier issues such as the Noncommissioned Officer Education System and NCO promotions.

    AUSTIN, Texas -- Soldiers from Fort Hood and Camp Mabry, Texas, attended the Texas State Prayer Breakfast here, Monday morning, with the emphasis of spreading prayer and praise across America. The official National Day of Prayer is May 7. The event's bible scripture came from 1 Kings 8:28, "Lord, Hear Our Cry." The guest speaker was Chuck (Carlos) Norris, American actor, expert martial artist, producer and screenwriter. Norris, a U.S. Air Force veteran, thanked all the attending servicemembers for their hard work, selfless service and dedication to our Nation.

    JOINT BASE MDL, N.J. -- On Apr. 14, 2015, Soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 312th Training Support Regiment visited Artist Brookie Maxwell at her studio, Gallery 138 in New York, NY to take a tour and participate in a discussion about the project "Coming Home: Journey Community Dialog." The visit provided an in-depth look at the making of the project, which will be on display to the public in New York City (2015) and Washington, DC (2016) with the hopes to find a permanent home in a museum. This was the first time that Staff Sgt. Isidro Irizarry was able to view the drawings of himself from a reenactment that took place at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on Nov. 17-18, 2014 of a medevac operation after an improvised explosive device (IED) blast.
