  • The U.S. Army Security Assistance Training Management Organization

    <b>What is it' </b> The U.S. Army Security Assistance Training Management Organization (USASATMO) is a brigade-equivalent command, headquartered at Fort Bragg, N.C., employing more than 260 Soldiers, Department of Army civilians and contractors who are deployed to more than 20 countries throughout the year to meet the requirements of the foreign nations requesting training assistance. USASATMO has successfully deployed training and advisory teams to every geographic combatant command, hence the motto <i>"Training the world, one Soldier at a time."</i> The mission of USASATMO is to plan, form, prepare, deploy, sustain and redeploy CONUS-based Security Assistance Teams to execute OCONUS Security Assistance missions that support Army Security Assistance Enterprise missions.

To overcome these obstacles, the Afghan Mission Network (AMN) was created to foster collaboration and information sharing by all ISAF TCNs. The U.S. AMN segment, CENTRIX-ISAF (CX-I), is scheduled for June 2010 implementation.

  • Team Closes Ranks After Losses

    REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- Team Redstone lost two of its own May 5 when a highly volatile chemical exploded during demilitarization processes at Test Area 10. The two Army contractors were identified as Jerry A. Grimes, 58, of Hartselle; and James R. Hawke, 53, of Hazel Green. Both sustained severe burns in the explosion and died in the evening hours of May 5 at the burn center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. They were employed by locally based Amtec Corp. A memorial fund has been set up at Redstone Federal Credit Union for the benefit of the surviving spouses and their families. Donations may be made at any RFCU branch location by referencing the Jerry A. Grimes Memorial Fund and the James R. Hawke Memorial Fund. RFCU tellers can handle single donations divided between the funds in accordance with donor instructions.

On April 30, the Buffalo Soldier Memorial Monument was unveiled and dedicated in its new home on Cavalry Hill, just off University Drive. The monument is only one of three known dedications to the historic group of African-American Soldiers in the U.S.

  • BACH program simulates battlefield stress to help Soldiers return to duty

    Soldiers in Blanchfield Army Community Hospital's Warrior Resiliency and Recovery Center (WRRC) participate in a session of the Return to Duty (RTD) program. In the RTD program, Soldiers practice combat skills under stress. In one exercise, Soldiers work quickly to dress a dummy's wounds in a simulated battlefield environment complete with loud explosions and screams blaring from loudspeakers and smoke pouring from fog machines. Many Fort Campbell Soldiers undergoing treatment for mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI) have the opportunity to go through this functional assessment to prove to themselves and their medical care providers at the WRRC that they are ready to deploy with their units.
