Fort Ord BRAC conducts a successful Prescribed Burn

Over 250 acres of vegetation were cleared Oct. 6 and 7 at Burn Unit 14 during a prescribed burn on the old impact area at the Former Fort Ord. The purpose of the fire was to clear vegetation so it will be safe for cleanup workers to remove unexploded munitions and explosives left over from when Fort Ord was an Army training center.

First Navy Jack is Raised at CIDD Monterey

On September 17 the Center for Information Dominance Detachment Monterey (CIDDM) raised the First Navy Jack on the flagpole adjacent to the Navy detachment headquarters for the first time at the Presidio of Monterey. This gesture signifies the CIDDM's dedication to assisting the preparation of Sailors for possible shipboard life by creating an atmosphere that is in keeping with the Navy Fleet. Navy ships were instructed in 2002 to fly the First Navy Jack upon their bows for the duration of the War on Terrorism as a "temporary substitute" of the Union Jack

Express Rocks the Dining Facilty at Presidio

PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY - The Army Variety Band, USA Express, played for Defense Language Institute Students and Staff at Belas Dinning Facility during the lunchtime meal on Oct. 6. The show was a precursor to the evening performance held at Hayes Park, located within the Ord Military Community. USA Express tours around the world to entertain military members of all five branches of service.
