Their day started at 5 a.m. as they underwent the rigors of several Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills that forced them to think on their feet under trying, realistic conditions.

A select of group of warriors have converged upon Fort Lee to showcase their soldiering skills during the 2010 Department of the Army Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year Aca,!A"Best WarriorAca,!A? Competition. The five-day competition that some call the Aca,!A"Super Bowl of Army competitions," is a test of will, stamina and determination. Day One of the week-long event began with a board competition. Soldiers faced a panel of sergeants major who observed every movement and critiqued each response.

Ryan Beaulieu, a courageous young 14 year old with Spinal-Muscular Atrophy, got his wish granted recently. The Make A Wish Foundation and Fort Bragg was all too happy to help. On Sept 16th, Ryan and his family were picked up by Soldiers of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command in Uparmored HMMWVs. His first stop as a Soldier was at the 1st TSC Headquarters.

The 2009 U.S. Army Reserve Command Best Warrior Competition held at Fort McCoy, Wis., July 12-18 brought 28 Soldiers and non-commissioned officers from Guam to New Hampshire to Fort McCoy to determine the best of the Army Reserve. The Army Reserve winners will then compete in the Department of the Army competition held later this year at Fort Lee, Va.

Statistically, the expert field medical badge is one of the toughest badges a Soldier can earn. With an attrition rate of 84.7 percent in 2008, only the best of the best ever get pinned. After two grueling weeks in the various training areas of Fort Lewis, 32 Soldiers earned the right to wear the EFMB and were awarded it at a ceremony Jan. 30 at Soldiers Field House.
