  • Falcon leaders host town hall meetings

    The command team from 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade hosted a series of town hall meetings which engaged all subordinate units in the brigade July 25-29 on Hunter Army Airfield. A total of six town hall meetings were conducted during the five-day period which gave Soldiers from each battalion in the brigade a chance to speak freely about any problems they were having in an open forum. The meetings were two hours in length, which gave the Falcon Brigade Soldiers a 12 hour window to voice their concerns.

    Units from 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade conducted an Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise to prepare for future contingency operations on Hunter Army Airfield June 23 to 27. The culmination of events began Mar. 4 when 1st Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment conducted a weeklong Situational Training Exercise including movement to field site by quartering party and tactical operational reporting by commanders in the field. This EDRE tested the logistical processes for staging and inspecting equipment at the readiness marshalling area and then rail or air movements to and from the airfield.

While getting the trip put together has not been easy, they couldn't have done it without their local communities.

The 5000 foot dirt airstrip was recently revitalized by civil engineers from the New Mexico Army and Air National Guard to allow C-130H Hercules aircraft to perform short field take-offs and landings on a dirt airstrip within a short distance from the 165th Airlift Wing, in Garden City, Ga. Prior to the opening of the Remagen airstrip, pilots flew to North Carolina or California to train for combat take-offs and landings.

    YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea -- Four Soldiers from the 210th Field Artillery Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division took part in the Eighth Army Combatives Tournament April 4 at Seoul American High School in Yongsan Garrison, South Korea. Two of the four Soldiers won first place, one Soldier won second place, and one took fourth place in the tournament. The team will be continuing on to the All-Army Combatives Tournament in the near future. The Modern Army Combatives Program was introduced in 1995 as a way for Soldiers to become confident in their ability to deter and defeat enemies in close combat.
